6 months!
More like 6 and 1/2 months now.
I can’t believe I have a 6 month old baby already. How did half of a year slip by so quickly? I’ve always thought 6 month old babies were the cutest and most fun and I can tell you that H does not disappoint in either department.
His babbles have changed and taken on much more conversational tones. He changes the inflection in his voice so sometimes it sounds like he is asking a question or making a very serious announcement. He learned how to blow raspberries around 5 1/2 months and when he’s really in the mood to talk he sounds exactly like Mr. Peepers.
Last week I attended a 4 day long Bradley Birth teacher training conference. I had H with me the whole time. The sessions were long and at times a teensy bit boring. H was the youngest baby there by several months. He did such a good job. He’s such an easy going fella. Saturday night he started screaming and crying, which is unusual for him so I took a peek in his mouth. Those upper teeth were finally starting to poke through his gums, along with 4 other teeth. All at once. By the end of the week my sweet boy will have 8 teeth in his mouth. Yikes!
The conference allowed H to play on the floor for long stretches of time. When we’re home he’s in the sling with me most of the day. Someone at the conference asked me if he was sitting up yet, to which I replied “Oh, not really.” and then set him on the floor to demonstrate. Well, he sat perfectly upright looking around grinning. Hm. I guess he’s sitting up now. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he started making attempts to crawl. I think being around the older babies inspired him. He gets up on his knees and rocks and pushes backward. He’s made a few crawling attempts but so far he collapses after each try with a very dramatic grunt. He wakes up early in the morning and tries to crawl in bed and twice I’ve seen him try to crawl in his sleep. I’m so excited for him! It’s so much fun to watch him develop his new skill
I sort of forgot to make his 6 month pediatrician appointment this month. I can’t get him in until a week before he turns 7 months. I don’t have any official height/weight measurements, but according to my scale he is 27 pounds (!!!) and around 30 inches tall. We’re still experimenting with solid food. He likes to play with food more than eat it. He tried some pear and wasn’t all that impressed. This afternoon I am going to bake a sweet potato and see how that goes over. If anything a blob of food on his highchair entertains him long enough for me to clean the kitchen and start dinner :).
The Evergreen State fair is this week. I entered 5 skeins of handspun and 4 items knit from handspun. I have no idea if I won any ribbons yet. I think we’re going to the fair on Saturday. I wanted to share these stunning socks that Alison made out of my “Daisy” colorway. These are Annetrelac socks. She won first place and a “special award” ribbon. Well done, Alison! I can’t wait to see them in person this weekend.
I’m putting the finishing touches on a shop update. There will be superwash merino sock yarn, roving, handspun, and aran weight BFL. It should be a very nice update with a little something for everyone. I am furiously trying to finish some longies for H in my new Halloween colorway. Hopefully I’ll have pictures of everything up on Flickr by Friday.

Just stopped by the site to check things out and so enjoyed seeing your little guy. What a cutie! Six months was one of my favorite ages for kids - they aren’t mobile yet but are so responsive.

H is just precious! What a fun age.
My home will be an empty nest next month. That probably seems like a lifetime away for you, but it goes quickly, just like your first six months!

I can’t wait to see pictures of what you entered in the fair. I entered the Puyallup fair this with 2 handspun yarns and a baby hat. Good luck to you.
Can’t wait to see what goodies you add to the shop later on I think I might need some goodies

EIGHT TEETH?!?!??!??! Satya just cut her third (right top, and it’s barely through). Wow. Happy 6 1/2 months H! The next 6 months are going to be so much fun! (I’m sure the months after that will be great as well, but since Satya is going to be a year, that’s all I know firsthand!)

Aww! I love watching babies figuring out this crawling thing. It is just so funny. Sam used to stick his bottom straight up in the air and his face into the blanket and then puuuuuuush with his legs. He fell over a lot.
