Baby Ripple
From this:
To this:
This was such a fun project. I made a huge dent in my Knit Picks Shine stash, though I decided to go easy on the super girly colors. I might make a few toys with the scraps, or I might throw them away. The amount of things I want to knit vs the amount of time I have left before H gets here is seriously stressing me out.
Blankie Stats:
“Golden Glow” from 200 Ripple Stitch Patterns. I picked this pattern cause it was nothing but double crochet. Very easy to memorize and work on while watching Law and Order reruns.
Size E hook
Yarn: Knit Picks Shine Sport, 10 full skeins, plus a few partial skeins. With my gauge I was able to get 3 rippples out of each skein.
What I did: Forgive me, I am not familiar with proper crochet lingo. I started with a foundation chain of 150 stitches. I picked colors at random for the ripples, which are repeats of 2 rows. I kept going until I thought it looked big enough, which wound up being 36 ripples. I got very brave this morning and threw it in the washing machine and dryer (on delicate). I refuse to hand wash a baby blanket. After 40 minutes in the dryer on delicate it was still quite damp, so I tried another 40 minutes on medium. It held up really well. There was no shrinking or pilling and the colors are every bit as vibrant.
It feels good to be done with it (I was a bit obsessed). Now I can move on to a tiny bit of Christmas knitting. We’re talking one pair of socks and one hat. I am soooo over knitting everyone in my family Christmas gifts.
BOOTY CLUB INFO:
FYI, paypal will be taking out the next round of payments on December 15th. If you currently have a subscription and want to continue, then you don’t have to do anything. If you don’t want to continue, cancel before the 15th. 3 month subscriptions will automatically renew on the 15th as well.
Packages will ship on the 14th (that’s this Friday!). I am looking forward to everything going very, very smoothly this time. Fingers crossed…
NEW BOOTY CLUB SPOTS will open up on the 15th (this Saturday). I’m not opening very many new spots. It will be less than 50. I will hopefully be on some kind of maternity leave for February and most of March, and I need to keep my work load at a reasonable level.

Man…I had to cancel for the next time around. My family and I are going to be moving from Germany to your neck of the woods in January. I will rejoin once we get an address
Thank you for a great yarn club!!! Nice blanket,I agree with you about handwashing baby blankets I don’t do that either. I would be washing at least 3 a day with the way Cierra spits up. Ah..the joys of motherhood

Oh, very very cute! I agree with Heather, good thing it is washable. No one tells you that your laundry triples when you have a baby.

I love the blanket! I need to start crocheting again, I haven’t done it in ages.
I cringe at the thought of anyone throwing away good yarn though, even if they are scraps!
I’d gladly take it off your hands if I had the money
Really though, the blanket looks beautiful!

Super cute ripple for Baby H. Now you can move onto other things, like amassing baby wipes by the truckload…or whatever soon-to-be moms do when they’re not dying yarn for sock clubs! I’m selfishly glad you’re continuing the sock club for the near future, and hope it’s glitch free this time around. Knock on wooden needles.
