This post is all over the place.

Booty Club Members:

First of all, I don’t want any of you to feel guilty about my having to take your packages to the post office myself.  It’s my job to get your packages to you when I say I’m going to.  It wasn’t that bad.  The boxes were light.  I made 4 runs- 3 were to dump off packages and the last one was for international packages.  There were 22 international packages.

I also wanted to mention that I am really proud of the men in this city.  Every time I brought a load of boxes in to the post office, a man rushed over to hold the door for me.  Some offered to carry my laundry basket full of boxes.  People, I don’t even look pregnant.  They were doing it out of kindness, not sympathy.  So thanks, guys in Everett.

Some of the packages have already arrived at their destinations.  I am so glad to hear everyone is happy with the booty!  If you can’t stand the suspense, I do have a picture I can email you.  But you have to promise not to share it with anyone else.  Leave me a comment if you want a spoiler picture.

Pregnancy:

Thanks to everyone who left me helpful links and advise.  I think some of you are worried I will be going on a mad shopping spree in the next week or two.  I promise I won’t.  See, I am a procrastinator by nature (or maybe habit).  Now that I’m going to be a mom I feel this overwhelming urge to be responsible.  I want to research the stuff we need to buy, and think about the stuff we can probably live without.  I’ll be at the end of my 8th month around Christmas, and I’m turning 30 a week before my due date.  I’ll be hitting up our family for most of this stuff ;).

Angora booties

I am super excited that so many of you recommended cloth diapering and slings.  Those are things that have always been a must for me.  I think it’s great that so many of you agree!

I picked up a copy of Baby Bargains.  I totally forgot that I used Bridal Bargains when we were planning our wedding.  It saved us a ton of money.  So far I’m loving the Baby Bargains book.  I love how it’s organized.  If I want to read about carseats, it’s right there in it’s own section.  I love how it has a saftey section for each item they cover.  That is what I am really obsessing over right now.  I haven’t lived with a baby since I was 2 years old.  It’s freaking me out a little.

I found out yesterday that I have an asymptomatic bladder infection, which i hear is very common in pregnancy.  I have to take antibiotics for a week, which makes me sad.  I know that what I’m taking is “safe”, but my background is in pharmacy, and there is no medicine that is 100% safe to take when you’re pregnant.  Everything has side effects and risks.  Some are just less risky than others.  But it’s also risky to have an untreated bladder infection when you’re pregnant, so I’m taking the pills like a good girl.

Spinning/Knitting:

Here are some recent spinning pictures.  Spinning has been slow cause I’ve been so busy with club stuff.  I’m spinning through my stash of blues/browns to make an EZ Baby Suprise Jacket.  You’ve probably seen these around lately.  I just love how it looks with handspun.  Handspun and garter stitch were meant for eachother.

Strawberry FieldsI loves me some Yarn Wench!

I picked up this cool kit at One Planet a few weeks ago.  It’s a cute wrap-style sweater.  I thought it would look cute with my bump this fall.  The yarn is really nice too.  It’s a 1ply and it’s super soft.

Fleece Artist

Some of you have been asking about the Yarn Pirate knitting needles.  Mr YP is working on them.  He’s down in his wood shop almost every night after work.  I peeked in there the other day and there are rows and rows of beautiful oiled needles.  They should be up on the site by August.  Maybe even sooner.  I’ll keep you posted.

our own brand of needles

Yarn for Sale:

Lastly, I have a big batch of very special one of a kind skeins I’ll be putting up on etsy soon.  These skeins were an early run of the club colorway.  I decided to change it around a bit, so I overdyed these skeins.  I love how they came out.  Every skein is gorgeous and unique.  They look nothing like the club colorway.  I’ll keep ya posted on those :).

  1. Just received my first booty and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Thanks! Getting me out of my rut.

  2. I had to run home from work at noon to get nice clothes to attend a funeral this afternoon, and my Pirate Booty was waiting for me! Yay! I love the colors, and, well, everything else that I can’t talk about….

  3. Just received mine too and wowzers!! :) :) :)

  4. i had a bladder infection too right in the beginning. you just have to trust your doctor to give you the best medical advice s/he can! and hopefully they always make you pee in a cup when you go to their office :)

  5. Oooh, haven’t received mine yet, but am happily waiting for it. So much fun!

Hope your infection clears up soon. (they’re the worst) xo

  6. As a med student and soon to be OB, your doctor is right. Untreated your baby could get a bacteria infection and get extremely sick or die. The antibiotics used to treat are very safe in pregnancy. I know pregnancy is nerve racking, but for me it was a wonderful experience and I hope it is for you as well.

  7. I got my Booty today!! Love it! Thanks so much. I am so glad I was able to get a spot in your club! I cloth diapered my first baby and failed with my second and third. Too mnay babies within a short period of time. Bad excuse, but it’s what I needed to do to keep my sanity.

  8. Got my club package today. Oooooooo ahhhhhh wow!!!

Hope that your infection clears up. Pregnancy can frazzel your nerves for sure.

  9. I just got my package this evening (my husband failed to mention it came, and I was fuming over something else when I came across it), and I have to say that without a doubt, you’ve made my day. It’s gorgeous. I am *so* glad I signed up. :)

  10. This reply is all over the place…
    1. Received my box today. The yarn is gorgeous! The booty is better than I ever could have hoped for as well. (And I voted for “no booty”!)
    2. I had bronchitis when I was pregnant with my second child and fretted over the antibiotic, but of course, all was well with my baby and it was far less risky than the pneumonia I could have developed.
    3. My vote goes out also for cloth diapers, with a diaper service, and a sling. Add a safe car seat and in truth, you will have all you need!

  11. Oh the joy my little square box did bring! I’m still grinning about it. (Though I did notice that mine had a big dent on the one edge - I hope no postal workers were permanently harmed!) Everything in the little box was just right - you’re awesome.

  12. What a treat to receive my box today. The colorway is fabulous, and I think I’m going to wind it tonight, even though I have too many UFOs on the needles!

I hope the infection clears up soon. I had one, too, in my second pregnancy but I think the benefits of taking the antibiotics outweighed the risks, and it all worked out ok. Enjoy your pregnancy!

  13. Ah yes….bladder infections. I had them when I was pregnant as well. I remember freaking out a little like you are…but you (and the baby) will be fine :o)

OMG that is some gorgeous looking yarn. Dang hubby saying I can’t spend any more money on yarn because I have a whole stash I haven’t used yet. What does he know? I neeeeeeeeed yarn. The kids can eat cereal for dinner for a few nights right?? LOL. Only kidding. I wish I could buy some. It’s serious pretty.

  14. During my second pregnancy I had a awful sinus infection with terrible cough…I think I cracked some ribs with all the coughing. Had to take meds, with my Navy husband at sea and a toddler at home. Guess what? The baby was perfect (9 lbs. 2 oz.) and even has beautiful curly hair that I jokingly attribute to the meds I took!

  15. Cloth diapers are the way to go if you are at home. They were fabulous for both my gurlz (until the little one started walking at 10 months and then they were not worth it anymore).
I just had allergies throughout both pregnancies, but worse with the second. I took only what they allowed and suffered as much as possible.
But if there was something that was necessary for both of us I did it. You will too and you will find your own happy medium.
Love the procrastination comment - that’s me too!!

  16. I had to take antibiotics with my second daughter. The problem was that I am allergic to so many that the list was short. Plus take out the ones that aren’t safe for pregnancy and the list was super small. I was a nervous wreck. I nagged my OB about my concerns. Finally I got a Level 2 ultrasound. Everything was fine and my daughter turned out perfect. But the benefits out weigh the risks. I know how you feel.

  17. Get well soon Georgia! I get sinus infections all the time and am constantly on antibotics. Be glad you aren’t allergic to most of them like I am.

I LOVE the overdyes. I hope I can snag one. I’ll always bust a yarn diet for YP.

  18. I came home from the beach to find my package awaiting me. LOVE IT!

  19. OMG, you were in Pharmacy? Me too! Just as a tech, as we never live in one place long enough for me to get a B.Pharm. Anyway, got my packagae, love the booty and LOVE your overdyed skeins!

  20. Got my package today (in MA!) and the yarn is gorgeous. Loved the Booty too. Well done!!! (Soooo glad I got a 3-month subscription :)

  21. I got the booty today! You did a terrific job - the yarn is gorgeous, and … well, I won’t be a spoiler. Those of you who are still waiting, it’s worth the wait!

  22. I’m not patient. Could I have a spoiler picture…please?! I hope that you are feeling well!

  23. Ahoy! I HEART my first booty installment..
    LOVE IT..

  24. Got my booty today! Super awesome…I think I will use this yarn to make my very first pair of socks. :)

  25. Since you are going with cloth (thank you mama!) Check out http://www.softclothbunz.com Bryana who is the owner is a wonderful woman and is one of my best friends. It is because of her I started to use cloth back in the day. If you have questions she can answer them. She used cloth on her kids too. Also there are tons of great wool soaker patterns out there and I can point you to a great wool soaker group online and some other diapering places too if you like.

I can’t wait to get my box!

  26. love my booty too… great colors, fun other goodies.. Nice Job Ms. Yarn Pirate!!

  27. I was reading all of the other comments to your what could you live/not live without for babies post and I never saw much more about slings other than the maya wraps. Please go and check out http://www.mamatoto.org/ and http://www.thebabywearer.com MamaToTo is absolutely the best place I have ever found to find ANYTHING you want to know about slings and how to choose them. I wish you lived close to me so I could show you all of the different kinds and how to use them myself. Oh well.

One lady did say that you should either find someone that has one and try it out and I wanted to second that. Slings get REALLY expensive and if you try one and baby pirate spits up on it you can’t return it.

Also if you use a sling then make sure that you don’t get one of the baby bjorns or snuglis. They are bad for baby pirate’s back because it compresses the spine. Any sling you use (in any position) should keep the baby’s knees higher than their tush. Kinda like a frog.

Another great site for info on breastfeeding, babywearing, etc is http://www.kellymom.com/ Really cool site. If you have a question their search engine is pretty right on the money.

Good luck Georgia and don’t hesitate to drop me a line with any questions on babywearing at all. I run a babywearing group here in Tucson,AZ and still carry my 2 year old sometimes.

  28. I love your handspun and the Mourning Dove is gorgeous! The skeins are beautiful. I may have to pick me up one.

  29. I will plead that the over-dyed skeins don’t go out *too* soon. Please don’t make me choose between HP7 and yarn…

I got my booty yesterday and its all lovely!

  30. I got my package yesterday and I loves it! I wish I didn’t have a bunch of projects on the needles right now because I’d dive right in.

  31. Loved the colorway and booty - thanks so much - and I’m looking forward to many many more colorways in the future - thanks for all your hard work!

  32. I hope you feel better! You can offshoot the effects of the antibiotics with probiotics if your OB is okay with that. It just helps your gut flora regulate and basically counters the negative effects of the antibiotics killing the good and bad flora in your system. I actually take them every day as does my 3 year old. :)

I absolutely loved the Booty this month. I can’t wait already till next month! Bwahahhahahaha…..

  33. I can’t wait to receive mine!!! I love getting yarny goodness in the mail.

  34. Hope you feel better soon—pregnancy can throw a lot of curves but babies are tougher than they look. I’m torn between asking for a sneak peek (because I know it will take a while for my booty to arrive) and resisting, because if I see what it is, I’ll be hounding my poor “postina” until it gets here!

  35. Love my booty!! Can’t wait to start (too many projects on needles at the moment).

I have been out of the baby business for a while (mine are 17 and 20) but I do remember that diaper service is the best!!

    Best wishes to you!

  36. Yay, YP booty! :) On the baby front, I love my Hotsling, cute Hyenacart.com cloth diapers, and cute baby clothes.

  37. Oh my GAWD! I love love love the booty! My husband thinks the colors arre fantastic too! (But he’s not getting it..it’s mine — for me!) Great package! Thank you!!

  38. I LOVE LOVE the booty club (as I have said in a hundred numerous posts in different places) hehe But I also MUST say that I LOVE LOVE the pirate needles too!!! Mr. YP is so crafty. I have to have them if for nothing else than just to look at. :)

  39. That innocuous little square box looked so innocent sitting in the mailbox… but no!

Inside is some absolutely gorgeous yarn and other goodies we aren’t to mention yet. Got mine here in Colorado today. It’s going right to the front of the project line, can’t wait to wind it and start planning a pattern.

  40. Just got my pirate booty and I am thrilled…so glad I got a spot in your club, thank you!

  41. Been thinking after reading all the posts - you should have a “mini-gallery” of projects that people have finished using the club yarn. Would be fun to see the variety of projects all made from the same yarn.

  42. “I haven’t lived with a baby since I was 2 years old. It’s freaking me out a little.”

Yeah, and I got my head stuck in the rocking chair, so I’m not a good example of baby safety anyway.

  43. Got my booty!!!!! Love it, love it love it! My hubby was hiding it from me! Gotta kill him now!

  44. Hey lady

You continue to blow my mind!! I cant even get over everything! Its truly so nice!

  45. Got my booty today and I’m in love with the colorwasy, thank you! Now I can’t wait to get my hands on some of those lovely needles. ;)

  46. BEAUTIFUL YARN, love the extra booty! thank you so very very much - it really made my day.
