What I made in February

I didn’t finish nearly as many things this month as I did in January. Last month was a fluke. This month I had knitting, spinning, sewing and weaving projects in mind but I only had the time and energy to make a few things.

February Knitting

I’m including my half-finished February Lady Sweater here. This sweater has taken up a good chunk of my crafty time this month. I wanted to finish it in February so badly. I really want to start wearing it! I’m going to try to finish it this weekend. It’s really a fun knit.

So half a sweater and a baby vest. I have a few fun things planned for next month. Wait until you see the yarn!

February Spinning

I was a much more productive spinner this month. I usually spin during H’s morning nap. Most days he takes a 2 hour long morning nap, so I can accomplish a lot of spinning. You can click the picture for more info on the fibers and yarns (I have a sweater to knit after all…). What you see here is 1340 yards of handspun. I’m about 2 skeins shy of a mile. I’m going to try to spin a mile in March. I have a feeling it won’t be too hard- my little Pocket Wheel should be done in a week or so.

Well, that’s it for my projects this month. My loom is warped and ready to go. I want to weave another handspun scarf and then I want to try weaving some dish towels.

So what are you working on next month? Does anyone want to try to spin a mile in March with me?

Bipedalism

My sister called me yesterday to tell me I haven’t been updating my blog enough. Haha. Ok, sis. This one is for you.

Last week was insanely busy for me. I got Booty Club out on Tuesday and started a big order for The Loopy Ewe. I’m trying to get that done and shipped out by the end of the month. I’m dyeing roving for The Loopy Ewe for the first time. I love dyeing roving. I’m doing some exclusive colorways for them, including this one:

something new...february spinning

I never get to play with any of my roving, so I dyed a little extra of this colorway and spun a skein for myself. This is some of the nicest superwash merino I’ve ever spun! I’ll have some for my etsy shop soon, too. Any colorway requests?

a few batts

In my “spare” time I’ve been working on some new batts. I’ve been poking around the internet looking for drum carding goodies. I have all kinds of wool locks, silk noil, and i just got some unbelievably gorgeous recycled sari silk. I’m having so much fun with my drum carder. I’m glad I finally bought one!

FLS

When H goes to bed for the night I get out my needles and start knitting. I cast on for a February Lady Sweater on Feb 1st. I wanted so badly to finish it this month but it looks like it isn’t going to happen. I’m having a great time knitting it though. You guys have probably noticed that I knit a lot of accessories and baby stuff. What can I say? I like instant gratification. I have a shameful sweater past though…

home for wayward knits

I have a basket that is home to 2 finished sweaters that I decided I hate, and one sweater I am 90% done with that I know I will never finish. And then there was my first-ever sweater. An apple green cardigan. It fit pretty good, and I liked it until I realized I had been knitting through the back loops and all of my stitches were twisted. I ripped that one out and de-stashed the yarn. So the FLS will be my 5th sweater, and so far it’s looking like the 5th time is the charm for me. Perfect yarn, great pattern, and I am now a much more confident, educated knitter.

Lets get to the biggest reason why I’ve been so busy. This young man. He isn’t a baby anymore, you see. He is a TODDLER. He toddles around with reckless abandon, and he has the scrapes and bruises to prove it. He took his first steps at the end of January, and started walking for real on Valentine’s day. He thinks he is a walking expert now. The only time he ever crawls is if he wants to get somewhere quick, like if he’s figured out daddy left the bathroom door open. It’s crazy, this walking. His activity level has increased almost tenfold. He can get in to so much more stuff now too. He’s been waking up at the crack of dawn for the last week trying to walk around on the bed. I am one worn out mama.
