A wonderful week

It’s hard to believe that a week has gone by since I pushed this kid into the world.

H is such an easy baby. He has two things he is very passionate about. Boobs and snuggles. He is getting a lot of both.

He loves to be held. He loves to ride around in a sling. We hardly ever put him down. I don’t think he’s even had a chance to be upset about anything. He fusses a little here and there, but he’s very easy to settle (see two passions above). It’s been such a wonderful week.

Whoa

He’s lifting up his head. 32 hours old. In a few days he’ll probably be asking to borrow the car.

he's already holding up his head!

He weighs 10 pounds, 10 oz and is 22 inches long. I am considering changing his name to Mr. Fatty Cakes.

It was wonderful giving birth at home. My midwives were amazing. If you are curious as to what it’s like to give birth to an almost 11 pound baby drug free I can sum it up in one word. Intense. I never knew I had such strength inside me. I also never knew I had such a huge child inside me until after the fact, which probably helped with the birthing process. Start to finish I was in labor for 15 hours. I pushed for 2 hours.

H/Mr. Fatty Cakes is a beautiful baby. His skin is softer than a rose petal and he smells so sweet. He has a tiny bit of hair and it does have a reddish glow to it. It’ll have to grow in a bit more before we know for sure.

I am exhausted and I’m getting ready to take a long nap with my sweet baby.
