It’s Friday already?

I can’t believe how fast this week went by!  I’ve been busy dyeing Booty Club yarn.  Last night Mr. K informed me that there was no more room in my yarn drying room.  That’s never happened before.  We’ll have to figure something out cause I still have a lot to dye.  I am reluctant to share the number of club members we have.  I’ve told a few people and they have expressed some concern that I might be insane.  Maybe I am.  It’s really not that hard though.  Doing a club where everyone gets the same thing is much easier than individual orders of a zillion different colorways.

How about giving $5 for a good cause and the chance to win some cool stuff?  Aimee is holding a raffle to help raise money for The Lupus Foundation.  Her goal is $5000.  Look what you could win:

I’m sending a book, a pair of Yarn Pirate needles, a skein of my handspun, and a skein of “Rain”, which won’t be available again as a colorway until next spring.  Seriously, I’m putting these in the mail today.  The raffle is up until October 5th.  She has lots of other goodies to give away too.  For every $5 you donate your name gets entered in the drawing.

This week’s Booty Club projects were knit by Lou.  Lou doesn’t have a blog (that I know of).  She works with my FIL and is very good about keeping him updated on what’s happening on my blog ;).  She made mittens with “Rum Runner” and some very cute socks with “Calamity”.  She didn’t tell me what patterns she used.  Maybe she’ll be kind enough to leave a comment with the info.  Lou, when you read this tell D that his grandson is doing just fine today (as far as I can tell).

I’m excited the weekend is here and it’s almost October.  October is my favorite month.  I love living in the Pacific Northwest this time of year.  The days are sunny and cold and the trees are starting to change colors.  I might get a head start on my 31 pairs of baby socks this weekend.  That’s not cheating, is it?

Show me your Knits!

From now on I will feature projects knit with Booty Club yarn on Fridays.  If you want your project featured here, please email me a photo and give me permission to use the photo somewhere in your email.  There are lots of great photos of Booty Club yarn in action on Flickr, but I’m not the kind of person to just slap a photo that doesn’t belong to me on my blog.  I will always link to you and give you credit for your photo.

Today’s featured project is from Lara.  She made these adorable Saartje’s Booties in the Rum Runner colorway.

I’ve been mulling over my 31 pairs of baby socks in October idea.  I think I can do it.  I know I can, actually.  Here are some “rules” I set for myself.  1.  I don’t have to knit a pair of socks a day, so long as I wind up with 31 pairs at the end of October.  2.  They’re not all going to be the same size.  I know I won’t have much use for 31 pairs of 6-12 m. sized socks.  3.  They’re not all going to be for my baby.  My cousin has an adorable 2 month old boy who will be getting several pairs.  4.  I have to use yarn from my stash (trust me, there’s enough to knit 31 different pairs).  5.  Any kind of baby foot covering counts.  If I decide to make a pair or two of angora booties those count toward the 31 pairs.

Some contenders:

Possible boy socks

I swear, it’s the pregnancy hormones.  They make some people barf, they make some people cry.  They make me want to knit baby socks.

Rosebud…

First off, thanks to everyone who sent me pirate jokes and pictures of squirrels and other animals dressed up as pirates.  There are few things I love more than seeing a squirrel in an elaborate costume (although i think that’s a groundhog).

The past two evenings were spent  carefully seaming my Rosebud Cardigan.  Things went much better this time around.  I watched the Knitting Help video a couple times and got down to business.  I think the yarn I used made it easier to sew neat seams.  The yarn is smooth and not very stretchy.  It was easier to grab the correct stitches and pull them in snug.  The places where it was just straight seaming were really easy.  I had trouble with the places that had shaping.  They don’t look as perfect as the rest of the seaming, but I don’t care.  They don’t really show, and this cardigan is so tiny it will only fit for a few months anyway.

The puppy buttons are my favorite part.

Pumpkin Head

I also finished the pumpkin hat.  The cat could not be convinced to model it.  This pattern (”Patrick’s Pumpkin” from Fiber Trends) was incredibly fiddly for a hat.  It wasn’t hard or anything, just kind of annoying.  I would knit this again, but only for a very special baby.  This is something I would make for a niece or nephew- not a coworker’s baby.

Tonight is Knit Night and I need to pick a new project.  I know I said no more baby hats, but there is one more hat I really want to make.  There’s also an intarsia baby sweater I want to start.  Oh, and I need more baby socks too.  I once vowed that my babies would only wear handknit socks.  So far I have one pair.  Maybe that should be my Socktoberfest goal.  Does anyone out there think I could knit 31 pairs of baby socks in October?
